INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

Originality is at the origin and Embria Design Works is focused on the embryonic stage of product creation, it is our ADN with a dynamic method that makes sense of the World and enrich the human experience. Design is a word that in itself explains the entire product development process as it is a complete architectural thought, however we will now describe our fundamental four basic stages:

1. DESIGN STRATEGY

This moment consists of observing the users, studying and testing the products to understand how they are used, manipulated, controlled and preserved. We use design research tools to structure a visual design strategy document, that defines the strategic direction for the design, interaction and functionality of a new product, with improvements for the user in terms of safety, performance, health, living conditions or emotion.

RESEARCH / SYNTHESIS

Design research is to inform us, we use design synthesis process to translate data into actionable knowledge for make decisions about what or how to design.

MARKET RESEARCH

With market research, we can get opinions and feedback from consumers in real time. The research includes surveys, product testing and focus groups.

TREND ANALYSIS

Identifying a prevalent trend, or determining how a trend has developed or would develop over time, helps to identify ideas for concepts or products.

OPPORTUNITY MAPPING

It is for identify, evaluate and compare new product opportunities as well as to challenge and inspire the teams to build corporate resilience and diversify your offer.

2. DESIGN CONCEPT

Now we take the observations of the design strategy and explore as many relevant options as possible, identifying innovative and intelligent solutions that fit the brief. Through this creative exploratory process, we can discover the emotional and functional benefits of the project, so we have a broader view of possibilities and follow more guided to the next stage.

CONCEPT GENERATIONS

The beginning of our powerful creative process, is mainly about creating and explorating innovative and consistent sketches of varied concepts, using the inputs from the first moment.

VISUAL LANGUAGE

Is a framework for product design used to create a cohesive product. A important tool with set of signature design elements and principles, to design the first product and the next products generations.

FORM STUDIES

Taking an integrated design approach in order to come to optimised volum and structural solutions. By using the physical model as a main research tool, it allows us to define the shapes of the product.

CMF

Color Material Finish design is an emerging design discipline within design. Having the ability to combine dimensions of function and aesthetics through colours, materials and finishes is key for good design.

3. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Our team identify and choose the right concept design directions from all the possible solutions, we always make choices based on testing, experience and strategy. It's time to define in sketch-form, functional and technical solutions, manufacturability solutions and prototypes, the intentions of what we want to materialize as final product.

3D CAD MODEL

We have great focus in this work of 3D CAD modeling when we create curvature surfaces of high quality, because it´s the main shape of the product, it´s in this stage that we define the visible product body.

3D VISUALISATION

The product becomes virtually real with photorealistic 3D renders and shows the true proportion and dimension, now we´re able to develop a refined design that balances function, innovation and aesthetic.

PRODUCT PROTOTYPING

We bring ideas from paper to real 3D models and prototypes in-house. This gives the opportunity to hold the object, observe the proportion and feel its volume, offering a better convincing experience.

ITERATIVE DEVELOPMENT

With sketch, functional and technical solutions, manufacturability solutions and mockups, together with client we discuss and make a decision which concept design to develop further.

4. DESIGN ENGINEERING AND PRODUCT IMPLEMENTATION

Now the concept design is ready, we will start work with engineering partners or the client with that competences, to develop a 3D CAD model of the product, with all technical solutions and details needed to create a functional model. We undergo a detailed development process, during which we create multiple iterations and prototypes that stay true to the initial design intent. Taking the idea for manufacturing, we’re able to develop a refined and purposeful final design that balances function and aesthetic. Finally we closely monitorise the implementation of the product.
